Which Do I Use?

How to renew an item online depends on where the item was borrowed from. The presence and color of a “book band” is the key.

No Book Band

Items that belong to the Missouri State University Libraries will not have a book band on them. These items can be renewed at any circulation desk or through View Your Library Account in SWAN. Renewal periods depend on the type of material and the borrower’s patron type.

Blue, Green, or Salmon/Pink Book Band

These items are from other MOBIUS institutions. These items can also be renewed at any circulation desk or through View Your Library Account in SWAN. The renewal period is determined by borrower’s patron type.

White Book Band

These items are from libraries outside of Missouri or Missouri libraries that are not members of MOBIUS. These items need to be renewed through the Interlibrary Loan web page or by calling Interlibrary Loan at (417) 836-4540. Whether an item can be renewed and for how long is determined by the institution it was borrowed from and can be highly variable.
